The Rose of Thirteen Petals and the Pomegranate Tree

Kitra Vardi s quest for Spanish citizenship turns into an enthralling journey across centuries. To access the Royal Spanish Archives, she must prove her family s roots stretch back before 1492 before the Spanish Inquisition and expulsion tore her ancestors from their homeland. But as Kitra traces her Sephardic lineage to eleventh-century Spain, her present life unravels. Her beloved mentor Bina is dying. Her lover Soli has left. Alone with grief and the ancient wisdom of the Zohar, Kitra s research into her family s past yields mystical encounters with her ancestors and spellbinding journeys through time. As Kitra walks the same path as her foremothers, she climbs toward enlightenment one revelation at a time. Navigating past and present, sacred texts and lived experience, she must piece together not just her family s story, but forge her own way forward as she comes to embrace her identity as a modern Sephardic woman.A luminous exploration of heritage, loss, and the stories that shape us.
