Description
Medical illustrator Ellen Lever brings anatomy to life for young children through lifesize body parts and 16 interactive flaps. BODY, the first book in a stylish new STEM series for young children, is an exciting introduction to anatomy for pre-schoolers and new entrants. Written and illustrated by qualified medical illustrator Ellen Lever, BODY features life-size body parts and 16 die-cut flaps. The body parts are drawn to scale, true to the size of the average 6-year-old, thereby encouraging children to relate the information they learn in the book to their own bodies. Interactive die-cut flaps demonstrate, for example, how the joints of an elbow work and how ribs protect the lungs. Ellen Lever's interdisciplinary background as both an artist and a scientist is reflected in her creative process: her work is playful and engaging as well as fact-based, meticulously researched and scientifically accurate.
