Description
The Routledge Handbook of Management Accounting Research provides a unique and accessible collection of research-based material to help students, researchers and teachers understand management accounting (MA) theory and practice. The scope of this edited collection covers a wide range of MA topics, including MA systems, techniques, and practice across organisational settings, seen through a variety of theoretical lenses. The contributions include chapters by well-known authors who draw upon their own stream of research as well as ‘users’ of research who analyse and reflect upon a stream of research by authors they have been inspired by. This handbook is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the development of our discipline and MA research and explores the research methods with the greatest potential to make an impact on the practice of MA. Chapters illustrate and explain popular research methods, especially case study and action research methods that have been used to produce research outputs acknowledged to have high impact on the practice and teaching of MA. The second part showcases impactful MA research, to facilitate the understanding of MA theory, practice, systems and techniques for a diverse audience including students, teachers of MA as well as early career and established researchers.
