This book Investigates how politicians, social movement activists, and government policies invoke the savior complex and who and how can claim agency in successfully managing the competing claims of right and wrong, rights, and disenfranchisement in the inter-imperial spaces of Central and Eastern Europe. The flourishing of nationalist discourses and the corresponding brandishing of “traditionalvalues” in Central and Eastern Europe are in part, reaction to the newly domineering Russia, butthey are just as well normatively aligned with the anti-gender principles that Russia also uses toadvance its domestic and transnational interests.
