Contributed by public policy makers and practitioners from all over the world, this volume is an invitation to develop an interactive platform, to provide innovative perspectives and strategies for reconciling growth with equity and environmental integrity. It develops these with respect to elections, health, taxation, population, health, peace building, protection of life, livelihood and indigenous knowledge. It suggests regulation of mega developmentalism, Arctic conservation and ocean detoxification. It emphasises principles of ten commandments, truth and non violence, from East and West, for balancing collective and individual rights and responsibility in democracy. It makes a powerful plea for moving, from value neutral to value laden studies; balancing quantitative with qualitative analysis; placing distributive justice over wealth creation; considering non human species, beyond anthropocentricism; and, rooting environmental ethic in local community cultures. It builds a bridge between natural and social sciences, technological means and ecological ends, economic and social rate of return on investments, for arresting climate change. It is an exercise in conscientizing public policy, for protecting the habitat and biocultural diversity on earth, nursed by human and non human communities. It is a clarion call to humanity to save itself from collective suicide.
