Exchanges for books bought in the shop

As a small independent business, we hope to keep exchanges to a minimum. However, we understand that sometimes they are unavoidable. You can exchange a book bought in our bookshop within 30 days of your purchase so long as you have the receipt and the book is unread and in pristine condition. We are unable to accept exchanges without a receipt. The exchange must be for another book and must be completed at the same time as returning your original purchase. We do not offer credit notes or vouchers for exchanges. 

If the new book is more expensive than the book you are exchanging, you must pay the difference. If it is cheaper, we will offer you a voucher for the difference. 

We cannot exchange or refund gift vouchers, subscriptions or book club memberships. Event tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. 

Exchanges for books bought online

As a small independent business, we hope to keep exchanges to a minimum. However, we understand that sometimes they are unavoidable. To exchange a book bought online, first contact us at books@backstory.london. The book must reach us within 30 days of your order to be eligible for an exchange. We cannot pay the postage cost for your return.  

The book must be unread and in pristine condition. The exchange must be for another book and must be completed at the same time as returning your original purchase. We do not offer credit notes or vouchers for exchanges.
