He published two collections of short stories - \u003ci\u003eCinnamon Shops\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eThe Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass\u003c\/i\u003e - during his lifetime. Schulz was shot and killed by a German SS officer in Drohobych in 1942.
