The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & UnNatural History is now one of the city's most tantalizing tourist destinations. Wynd first introduced his worldview in the book Viktor Wynd's Cabinet of Wonders, which John Waters called "an insanely delightful how-to guide...told with lunatic humor and absolute joy." In this new volume, he takes readers on a tour inside his mildly-twisted mind, delving deeper into his philosophy of collecting, and describing personal connections to the objects he treasures. Written in his trademark charismatic style, which blends whimsical stories with odd facts and obscure references, this book is filled with lavish and theatrical photographs and drawings. Loosely organized into thematic chapters, it ponders the beauty of skulls and masks; explores beasts, freaks, monsters, fairies, and mermaids; covers magical plants, hallucinogens, erotica, and dandies; and dips into the world of the occult. This might not be a book for everyone. However, it is a book everyone interested in cabinets of curiosities should have on their shelf.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0612/7193/3106/files/9783791385198_8e802d26-c473-4df9-954a-f40e76512f41.jpg?v=1786031720
9783791393506
Dark Fairy Tales
Master storyteller Viktor Wynd is back with a gloriously grim collection of wickedly entertaining tales from around the world, guaranteed to tickle the darker side of the imagination.

Viktor Wynd has always gravitated toward the weirder corners of folklore. On his extensive travels, he has amassed a trove of stories that refuse to play nice — filled with risqué twists, grotesque details, and endings that are surprisingly happy, though not always in the way one might expect.

Having entertained audiences around the world with these tales, he has now written down some of his favorites in a book as beautifully produced as it is macabre. The stories were collected in Wales, Ireland, Arabia, Germany, Norway, Papua New Guinea, and Borneo and include the adventures of a one-eyed troll; the feckless Paddy O’Dwyer; a changeling child; a girl who thinks she can outwit a witch; the doomed Sinbad the Traveler; shapeshifters; and a baby-eating pig.

Each chapter begins with Wynd’s personal account of how he came to learn these stories. Arresting and intricate illustrations by Transylvanian artist Luciana Nedelea perfectly balance the charming and grotesque. The book also includes a guide to the art of learning and recounting fairy tales. With foil accents and black-stenciled edges, this volume feels like a forbidden artifact plucked from a dusty cabinet of curiosities.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0612/7193/3106/files/9783791393506_c4501f7a-d051-4500-90b6-e4c2abed8746.jpg?v=1786031848
dark-fairy-tales-special-edition-stories-from-around-the-world-that-are-definitely-not-suitable-for-children
Dark Fairy Tales (Special Edition) – Stories from Around the World (That Are Definitely Not Suitable for Children)
